Another day, same place

It seems they stayed on the same place as yesterday. Hopefully this means they did some exploring, like climbing a peak and not bad weather. Or maybe it was just time to rest. To be continued.

Blijkbaar bleven ze vandaag op dezelfde plaats als gisteren. Laat ons hopen dat dit betekent dat ze de omgeving wat verkend hebben zoals bijvoorbeeld een topje beklimmen en niet dat ze door slecht weer vastzitten. Of misschien wilden ze gewoon eens rusten. Wordt vervolgd.

Lupke La

Today they stood on top of the Lupke La (5544m). Today the weather was extraordinary not a cloud in sight, the past two days though weren't that nice. At night the temperature falls between -15 and -20°C.
The hardest part of the journey is over. From now on it's only downhill. Philippe acknowledged that it is a heavy and rough trip.
After our phone conversation he has sent another SPOT message:

Philippe belde vanop de Lupke La (5544m). Het weer is vandaag prachtig, volkomen wolkenloos. De voorbije twee dagen was het weer wat minder. 's Nachts daalt de temperatuur tot tussen -15 en -20°C.
Het zwaarste stuk van de reis is voorbij. Vanaf nu is het nog alleen maar bergaf. Philippe gaf toe dat het een zware en ruige tocht is.
Na ons telefoongesprek heeft hij nog een SPOT-boodschap verzonden:

Braldu glacier/Braldu gletsjer

Everything goes well with the expedition members; they're well adapted to the height and in fact at the moment they are two days ahead of schedule.
Uptill now the weather has been excellent but today it started to snow.
They've arrived at the snowline of the Braldu glacier. Today they took their leave of the porters. From here onwards they're on their own. Tomorrow they 'll start skiing, pulling the pulkas.

Het gaat goed met de mannen en vrouwen; ze zijn inmiddels goed aangepast aan de hoogte en ze zijn twee dagen voor op schema.
Het weer is tot nu toe schitterend geweest, vandaag is het echter beginnen te sneeuwen.
Momenteel zijn ze aan de sneeuwlijn van de Braldu gletsjer aangekomen. Ze hebben afscheid genomen van de dragers. Van nu af aan zijn ze op zichzelf aangewezen.
Morgen binden ze de ski's onder en trekken ze de pulka's over de gletsjer.

They are all in good health, the height is no problem. The weather is fine, marvellous scenery.
Today they arrived at the foot of the plateau of the Shimshal pass.
